Description:

This drama film marks the beginning of De Sica's interest in the theme of childhood, which will continue with films such as Sciuscià and Ladri di biciclette, and is considered a precursor of Neorealism. Pricò is a child who goes through the painful dissolution of his family, caused by his mother's affair with another man; his father, in a state of desperation, commits suicide. The drama is portrayed with realism and attention for the character's feelings, especially the suffering of Pricò.
